Fake Shark-Real Zombie!: Angel Lust EP

Fake Shark-Real Zombie!: Angel Lust EP
Vancouver-based Fake Shark-Real Zombie! take their name from a scene in Lucio Fulci’s 1979 movie Zombie II.
The song for which the EP is named "Angel Lust" is a near perfect single. The verses have an almost Red Hot Chili Pepper "Give It Away" quality to it. The chorus reminds me of something off of the Swingin Utters' Five Lessons Learned. It is edgy modern rock tinged punk with strong lead guitar.
While the lead track shines, the rest of the EP is an amalgam of ingredients. Vocalist Kevvy reminds me of Hot Hot Heat while the band's music is reminiscent of bands like Genghis Tron, Lightning Bolt, or An Albatross.
In the end, the band who sings "Angel Lust" sounds like a completely different band than on the rest of the EP. While the rest of the EP is not terrible, it certainly doesn't display the band's best qualities quite like "Angel Lust" does.
