Various Artists: Saw V Original Motion Picture Soundtrack It's Halloween time which means its time for another installation in the Saw movie series. The creators claim Saw V is the last installment but who really believes them any way. I don't think I have seen any Saw film past II, but I'll listen to the soundtrack anyway. What can one really expect from any horror film soundtrack? Creepy instrumentals, angsty industrial tracks, and some hard rock numbers evoking images of Rob Zombie. Well, check check and check. The album starts off with composer Charlie Clouser's "Trap Attacks". Clouser has composed tracks for all the Saw films. His style is instrumental industrial metal. Next we get a dose of history with long time metal act Testament followed by industrial godfathers Ministry. Ministry offers up a remixed version of "Death and Destruction". The original appeared on their 2007 album The Last Sucker. My favorite track of the soundtrack is Clutch's "Power Player". Clutch has been around for over a decade. Their mixture of stoner metal and funk makes their track seem like a black sheep in this soundtrack filled with industrial and old-school metal bands. Which becomes painfully obvious when their track is followed by old-school industrial act Skinny Puppy. Overall, the Saw V soundtrack offers a good selection of metal and industrial bands. You don't get more esteemed in the genre of industrial than Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Prong, Die Krupps, and Revolting Cocks. I'm sure fans of the genre will love this soundtrack.
