CSS: Donkey

CSS: Donkey Donkey is the sophomore album for Cansei de Ser Sexy, the follow up to their extremely successful eponymous debut. When you make the type of music CSS does, a sophomore slump doesn't seem like an option. Their music mixes elements of electropop, dance punk, and indie rock into a fun dance mix. Their music is a lot like Calvin Harris. It's fairly musically repetitive. Although their lyrics are more expansive than Harris'. CSS is from Brazil and their native language is Brazilian Portugese, so their lyrics are lacking in a lot of places. Lead singer Lovefoxxx unironically sings lyrics like "where's my jeans?/Where's my glass?/All this mess comes from your ass" The poor lyrics don't really deteriorate from the listening experience. The music is so fun that it wouldn't really matter what Lovefoxxx sang. Her sultry voice, sexual lyrics, and slight accent make her the Debbie Harry of our times. Donkey does not only not fall into a sophomore slump but it also improves on CSS' already proven formula. The songs are short, catchy, and danceable.
