The Wombats: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation

The Wombats: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation
Liverpool trio, The Wombats finally get their debut album released on American shores. The album was originally released in England in November of 2007.
Their sound is not completely unique. It's easy to compare the band to other British exports like the Fratellis, the Arctic Monkeys, or the Futureheads. Their sound is poppy rock that is as sloppy as it is danceable.
Their single "Let's Dance to Joy Division" was voted by NME "Best Dancefloor Filler". I'm not positive what that means, but I assume its a good thing. I don't really think this is the type of record you break out at a rave, but certainly I assume their shows are filled with dancing.
I know the band is already successful in the Europe and Asia, but something tells me they will be able to add North America to that list very soon. Something about them makes me think they are more poised for commercial success than the Futureheads or the Arctic Monkeys. Now, if only they can get on an iPod commercial like the Fratellis did, they might be really in the big time.
