Supergrass: Diamond Hoo Ha

Supergrass: Diamond Hoo Ha
Supergrass releases their sixth album, Diamond Hoo Ha, their first since 2005's Road to Rouen. Supergrass rose to prominence in the 90s brit pop boom with their single "Alright".
Supergrass became a staple of British music but never was able to duplicate the success in America where they remain the band that did "Alright". It's easy to forget what a great band Supergrass is. Listening to Diamond Hoo Ha reminds us of their influence.
Their jangly up-beat pop style is reminiscent of old R.E.M. or non-political Ted Leo. Their songwriting is filled with hooks and riffs.
Having a career spanning the better part of two decades, Supergrass is slowing down a little. Their influences and influence is clear in Diamond Hoo Ha, but it doesn't seem like a very inspiring record. In a lot of ways its a great listen but not as memorable as what we've come to expect from Supergrass.
