Ride the Boogie: Ride the Boogie Vaux' guitarist, Adam Tymn's side project Ride the Boogie release their self titled debut. Adam met his bandmates while on Warped tour. Ride the Boogie includes Places to Park drummer Glenn Pinson and Arkham's Kevin Burwick and Billy Pena. Ride the Boogie is extremely eclectic. The opening track "Hop Along Chastity" sounds like Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah but then the sound takes a turn for the nu metal with songs like "Big Ass Bass". "Naughty Corner" has a certain Tom Waits mixed with Grinderman sound. A couple of songs, especially "Mustache Riders" reminds me of Primus. The album's generally dark sound utilizes many minor and dissonant chords. It occassionally picks up a dark country-feel but in the end just isn't my cup of tea. It reminds me too much of bands like Nashville Pussy or Primus. Rating: 3.9/10 MP3: Ride the Boogie "All Night" Buy: iTunes, Insound
