Black Market: Black Market EP Arizona rock band Black Market release their debut EP after a month of recording with Sean Slade (Radiohead, Dinosaur Jr., Hole) and Matthew Ellard (Morphine, Weezer, Elliott Smith). Their music sounds like a lot of early-2000 emo like the Early November or Gatsby's American Dream. Their vocal melodies remind me of 90s modern rock like Seven Mary Three. The combination isn't as bad as its sounds when described. The sound feels a little bit passe to me. In modern rock's hayday I'm sure this would've been considered innovative but now it feels a little warn and just a bit too familiar. The band clearly has talent but may want to pick up some albums released in the latter part of this decade to hear what's hip with the kids today. Rating: 3.7/10 MP3: Black Market "Sheila"
