Dub Pistols: Speakers and Tweeters The third studio album by London's Dub Pistols is a hodgepodge of popular UK genres. As their name would suggest, the Dub Pistols started off as a dub group. Since their genre they have most often been classified as electronica, which is also not completely accurate. The groups main genre is hip hop with elements of dub, techno, ska and big beat. Speakers and Tweeters is only their third album but the Dub Pistols have been around for over a decade. It would appear the Dub Pistols are ready to blow up. They have finally solidified their line up with former Special member Terry Hall, UK rapper Rodney P, and US rapper T.K. Lawrence. "Running from the Thoughts" has a classic ska beat with excellent rhymes from Rodney P. "Cruise Control" is a song that's reminiscent of the X-ecutioners collaboration with Linkin Park "It's Going Down". "Gangsters" is the best Specials song the Specials never wrote. Although the Dub Pistols eclectic sound seems to be perfectly poised for hit making in the UK, I'm not sure they will ever breakthrough in the US. Rating: 7.2/10 MP3: Dub Pistols "Mack 10"
