9th Wonder and Buckshot: The Formula The Formula is the second collaborative release from 9th Wonder and Buckshot. The two form a legendary alliance. 9th Wonder is most known from his work with Little Brother and MURS. Buckshot is the leader of the infamous Boot Camp Clik and the legendary group Black Moon. 9th Wonder's production is on point for the entire album. His sounds somewhere between Kanye West and Hi-Tek. There are a lot of strings and some sped up soul samples. Not surprisingly Buckshot is on his game as well. He mostly rhymes about romance and girls. Never is this more exemplified than in "Only For You (Lou)". The beat sounds eerily like Kanye's "Here We Go Again" and Buckshot's flow sounds a lot like Common's. The Formula as a whole could really be one of the best hip hop releases of the year. There is no obvious flaws. Buckshot is too veteran an emcee to fall into the lyrical pitfalls of many newer rappers and 9th Wonder's production perfectly compliments his rhymes.
