PlayRadioPlay!: Texas

PlayRadioPlay! : Texas 18-year old Aledo, Texas native, Daniel Hunter releases his first full length album as PlayRadioPlay! after the release of a very successful debut EP. PlayRadioPlay! plays emo-tinged electronica like a more dancy Postal Service. Hunter's vocals reminds me a little of another one-man band, The Rocket Summer while his subject runs the stereotypical emo gamut from his relationships to his no extinct drug habit. The albums strength is clearly in the production, well sung dancable music is clearly a popular movement in music. The biggest weakness of the album are the lyrics. They're often cheesy at best. I think for the majority of people in PlayRadioPlay!'s demographic the lyrics won't be an issue. For the trained ear looking for a chink in the PlayRadioPlay! armor, the lyrics are a big one.
