Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Inductee 08: Madonna

They have announced the inductees into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame next year. Over the next few days I'll post up a little bit about each inductee. By far the biggest name being inducted is Madonna. There has been a good deal of discussion in music circles of whether or not an artist like Madonna should be inducted into a Hall of Fame for Rock n Roll. Although she's not a Rock n Roll artist per se, she is one of the most influential artists of the last three decades. She released her first single in 1982 but she didn't obtain mainstream success until the next year when she released her third single "Holiday". It was her venture into the Billboard top 20. She would return to the top 20 35 more times in her career. 25 years later, she is still as much of a icon as she was in the 80s. Her career, if nothing, is to be envied. According to both the 2007 Guinness Book of Records and Forbes, she is the top earning female singer in the world with an estimated net worth of over $325 million.
