R.I.P. Pimp C (1973-2007)

On December 4th, Southern rap legend Pimp C passed away from unknown causes. Best known as half of the rap duo UGK, the death comes suddenly and unexpectedly.
As a white kid from Connecticut, I'm not the best source to speak of what Pimp C meant to hip hop or the South. From all that I have heard from Pimp C fans, he was the first real Southern rapper. He spoke like your grandfather spoke and he told it like it was.
He was last heard on UGK's 2007 double disc album Underground Kingz which was critically acclaimed including by this blog.
Officials have said drugs were not the cause of death but causes will not be determined until autopsy results return.
He will be sorely missed. Condolensces from STGA to his friends, family, and fans.
