Various Artists: The Simpson's Movie The Simpson's Movie has been 6 years in the making since 2001 when all the voice cast were signed to participate. Once the movie is released so must be the soundtrack. The deluxe edition comes in a likeness of the familiar pink frosted donut. But don't let the fun packaging confuse you, this is the actual soundtrack to the movie. Unlike other "soundtracks" to the Simpson's such as Songs in the Key of Springfield and The Simpson's Sing the Blues, the Simpson's Movie includes mostly instrumental pieces from the movie. The creators title the tracks as punchlines from the movie like "Doomsday is Family Time" or "Thank You Boob Lady", but the tracks are hardly as fun as their titles. The CD begins with the classic "The Simpson's Theme (Orchestral Version)" as heard on the TV show. It is followed by "Trapped like Carrots" which starts slow but picks up to a fun jaunt with pizzicato violins and all. The soundtrack really slows down until the operatic version of "Spider Pig" which really brings down the house. This isn't really the CD that I'm sure anyone would expect when picking up a CD disguised as a donut, but overall Hans Zimmer does an excellent job with the soundtrack. The deluxe packaging is probably a must have for any Simpson's fan, the regular packaging might be okay for anyone who just wants to hear excellent symphonic soundtrack work.
